Updating first generation ipod touch
It is always a good idea to take a backup of your device before updating it with the latest i OS software update.(Note that if you choose to encrypt your backup using i Tunes, along with normal data, secure information like passwords etc. This is especially helpful when your i Pod Touch is frozen on lock/home screen. Please note that restoring i Pod Touch with i Tunes will restore the i Pod to its factory settings, which means all your music, videos, apps, and other contents on the i Pod will be erased. If the i OS 10 update is available it will automatically download and update your device to i OS 10.Step 4: You will get a popup message informing you the new update is available. At times it takes some time for the software update to be rolled out on all the servers, so if it says i OS 9.2.1 is still the latest version then download the appropriate firmware file using download links provided in step 5.
