Sophos is not updating
If the update is installed already, Sophos recommends booting into Safe Mode, disabling Sophos Antivirus, booting into the regular system, uninstalling the Windows update there, and enabling the Sophos Anti-Virus service afterward.Avast published a support article on the company's KB site that describes a similar issue.Noticed on the clerk computers in my stake that Sophos has stopped updating since January 10, 2017 (the Windows error message popped up for spyware/adware protection).I will call support this week to see what is going on (Sophos installs with the image from the management client, so it's hard to get rid of).The advertising model in its current form is coming to an end, and we have to find other ways to continue operating this site.We are committed to keeping our content free and independent, which means no paywalls, no sponsored posts, no annoying ad formats or subscription fees.Once Sophos is installed, the icon will appear on your taskbar. After installation, you will need to connect to the Internet so that Sophos can download updates; this could take several minutes.
Windows machines (particularly those running Windows 7) are becoming locked or frozen on startup after Microsoft updates KB4493472, KB4493448, and KB4493435.
This upgrade will not affect computers that use a departmental update server.

If sophos support is dying at the church tech support level then we should at least be able to turn back on the microsoft virus scanner. The sophos updater runs like normal after a bootup but nothing actually updates (the "update successful" message will popup, but if you check the actual virus software files they will remain at the old January 10th detection file). I've been seeing this message quite regularly recently, on the Stake and Ward Clerk computers (Both in the same building, different rooms). Sophos however has updated on both, I'll have to check on our machines.
There's two possibilities: The church servers are not updating (Sophos is directed to a church site for the updates), or for some reason our version of Sophos is outdated and no longer supported.
